How to Refresh Your Home with Color

Sometimes all you need, to give your home a fresh feeling, is to add a few pops of color! This decorating trick is even better, if you layer in a bit of pattern and texture too.

I walked into our main living space the other day (we have an open concept home) and just couldn’t help smiling! Even though I like a crisp, clean backdrop, I love adding pops of color to our home. With mostly white walls, I’m able to layer color, pattern, and texture easily—and that combo makes me so happy!

I know it can be intimidating to bring color into your home when you’re decorating, so I think that’s why a lot of people play it safe with neutrals. If you’ve been wanting to incorporate color, though, it doesn’t have to be difficult!

Walmart Home has some great pieces right now to transform your blank slate into a colorful and eclectic space! I like shopping at Walmart because there is always at least one thing I can incorporate into whatever area I’m styling. Bonus…its home decor is budget friendly, so I don’t have to feel guilty about shopping there. With a growing selection of current decor and accessories, Walmart is becoming one of my favorite spots to shop.

One way to make decorating with color a bit easier is to choose a neutral backdrop. White walls can be a great way to neutralize your space in a way that will make it welcoming to colorful accessories. The other reason that I love a more neutral take on walls and larger pieces of furniture, is that it’s easier to change out smaller pieces and home decor more often.

Another tip is to select a color palette for your home. This one thing will help guide your decorating decisions—making them so much less stressful! I love the pink and yellow incorporated in this inspiration board, and how they are punctuated with touches of blue, black, and gray!

A trendy way to incorporate color (and pattern too) is to choose a few accessories in the popular terrazzo design. Terrazzo pieces normally incorporate a few colors, making them a breeze to blend in with different color palettes. Plus, the design is fun and fresh!

This shower curtain would be such a fun addition to a bathroom! Look at all the colors included in the terrazzo print—making matching to your color palette a snap!

You can shop this look and so much more in the Walmart Wow & Now Lookbook!! Adding a bit of color to your home is always a good idea—you will be so happy you did!
